Entreprises

  • Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. - Aeronautical Engineer

2012 - 2015 Lead a team at NASA Langley Research Center to develop an integrated conceptual design process for complex airliner concepts including CFD-based aerodynamics, conceptual aeroelastic assessment and accounting for the effects of propulsion-aero integration.
  • Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) - Aeronautical Engineer

2012 - 2012 Currently leading a team at NASA Langley Research Center to develop an integrated conceptual design process for complex airliner concepts including CFD-based aerodynamics, conceptual aeroelastic assessment and accounting for the effects of propulsion-aero integration. This job was identical to my current job but a change of contract with NASA Langley meant I had to change employers.
  • AVID LLC - Senior Aicraft Design Engineer

2005 - 2012 Responsible for leading and developing several conceptual aircraft design efforts ranging from ducted fan UAVs to autonomous border patrol UAVs. Performed and lead potential flow and linear aerodynamic studies encompassing such projects as ducted fan design, free-tip propeller design, control vanes, complex wing aerodynamics, airframe structural design and circulation control implementations on advanced military concepts. This role included project engineering support for several wind tunnel experiments in Langley’s 14x22 tunnel and Virginia Tech’s 6ft Stability Tunnel where duties included wind tunnel test plan development, on-site support, and data reduction and analysis. Also responsible for developing unique Multi-Disciplinary Optimization processes for challenging design concepts. Past examples include designing a dedicated design process for the Blended Wing Body aircraft and designing an autonomous, extremely long endurance sailplane using only the available atmospheric energy.

Project Airframe Lead for the Class I UAV ducted fan vehicle (designed for the US Army’s Future Combat System), August 2009 to April 2011: Responsible for developing and managing the detailed design and fabrication of four ducted fan vehicle prototypes that included the design and oversight of duct and fan aerodynamics and validation, material selection, fabrication and tooling methods, acoustic design and validation, thermal performance, EMI mitigation, landing gear design, and flight test support. First Flight of the prototype was achieved in April 2011.
  • Swales Aerospace - Aerospace Engineer

2001 - 2005 Responsible for a number of aircraft conceptual designs, including developing unique design processes. Examples include a M0.98 passenger transport, circulation control airfoil development, personal air vehicle design, an advanced package delivery aircraft concept, as well as advanced military concepts. This included project engineering support for several wind tunnel experimental tests, including in Langley’s TDT tunnel, where duties included oversight of model fabrication and installation, wind tunnel shift support and data reduction and analysis.
  • Northrop Grumman - Aerospace/Reliability Engineer

Los Angeles 1999 - 2001 On-site support contractor for NASA Langley Research Center. Duties included aviation accident analysis and development of data mining techniques for accident analysis, airborne laser safety probability assessment using a Monte Carlo simulation, and a general aviation aircraft reliability study.
  • Boeing - Manufacturing Intern

1997 - 1997 Performed and analyzed DITMCO (electrical harness testing method) continuity checks for the CH-53/CH-47 and V-22

Formations

  • Virginia Polytechnic Institute And State University (Blacksburg)

    Blacksburg 1994 - 1998 BS AOE

    Aerospace and Ocean Engineering
